Open Letter to the BCCI

BCCI Please consider the following changes

1) Each player be given the choice of playing only one variant a year. 20-20, One days or Tests.

India has enough players to fill each variant competitively, why then do the same players play all the formats. This will address the problem of player burnouts, it will also allow the Indian team to play simultaneously against different countries i.e. the test team can play in Australia and the 20-20 team could play against South Africa around the same time, allowing for more matches and more revenues. This will also allow players to better focus on their roles, techniques and strategies. I am sure the BCCI can afford to pay them enough so as to not make earnings an issue.

2) Separate captains for each format

It is high time we have different captains for each format, each  format has different strategies, this allows for captains to specialize in a format, maximizing their potential. If a captain from one format plays another format he can play freely as a player without the additional responsibility. It will give the captain time to formulate strategies ad combined with the point above, a stable team to plan around.

3) A coach for each department per team i.e. a batting coach, a fast bowling coach, a spin coach and a fielding coach, with a head coach and a manager.

A fast bowling coach cannot coach a spinner and vice versa, each position in cricket is very specialized and it needs a separate coach, BCCI, stop saving pennies add more coaches. With the amount of cricket being played the players need coaches to crunch the data, analyze the opposition, come up with strategies etc. Let the coaches report to the head coach who gives overall direction, but let each player work with their position coach.

4) Allow players to play one T-20 league outside the IPL

This will develop players, expose them to ideas and pitches outside their comfort zone.
